Parrot Transport Group - anyone can join. anyone can utilise this group
As a former breeder I turned to rescue work to help parrots in need. I started this group as an extension of my efforts. The need for rescues to network with each other for the greater purpose of the birds has arrived. Many rescues come and go. This group makes every effort to list reputable rescues. Although ARP1 serves to finding good rescues, we are not responsible for any rescue listed in this group, or their practices.
This group works on "networking". It requires participation to make it work!
Rescues/Sanctuaries join us in the solution.
Public: check out our database of rescues and parrot products in the LINKS section. If you are looking to adopt a parrot or give one up to a rescue/sanctuary you can post to the group without joining. All posts are preapproved. WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF HOME CHECKERS AND FOSTERS. JOIN OUR PREAPPROVED LIST TODAY!
Rescues, Sanctuaries, fosters, bird placement volunteers, home checkers, networking, resources, owners of rescues for resources and support, public (not members) who can post their birds they are giving up or wish to adopt.
NO breeders, brokers, lurkers (defeats the purpose) and no one who is not listed the group purpose should be listed here as we have nothing to offer you nor you us. Not to offend anyone but we are an exclusive group for exclusive service.

Periodically there will be survey/questionnaires to help with how the group is going. 'These must be replied to by all members. If you do not wish to participate in making this group of a higher standard and ethics then perhaps this is not a suitable group for you.
(For more detail on ethics and standards, see the files section in ARP1 group "sanctuary criteria). There you will find industry guidelines from different accepted sources. These guidelines are for our use as checklist points but not necessarily application approval for ARP1 or any branch thereof. All guidlelines are taken from sources already accredited in the industry and are used for referrence material.
*No breeding parrots or associative allies.
*Avian vet care is number one priority when doing intakes and at any time during rescue care.
*Proper screening of fosters and placements.
*Common place contracts for adoptions. All contracts should read that the bird(s) come back to you if they cannot keep them.
*Regular support and supervision of fosters under the rescues care.
*Proper sanitation practices of both rescues and fosters.
*Adequate rehabilitation is available and implanted to each bird. If the bird is not able to be rehabilitated then the bird should continue his stay at the rescue or sent to a sanctuary appropriate for that species.
*Adequate assessment is conducted on each bird.
*Adequate avian knowledge is required by any avian caregiver. Constant learning is a must. (See suggestions in links section "Education material")
*must be network worthy. What is this? Well, if no one wants to work with you then there must be a reason. If you have a good name in the industry then this place can only serve to help make it better.
